The Put People First march is now making its way into Hyde Park.  The first half of the march showed up about an hour ago, the second half was delayed due to the police joining the march and keeping a slow-moving cordon of cops in front of the anarchist Militant Workers Bloc, presumably to deny them mobility in case they decided to overthrow capitalism today.

It's still difficult to hazard a guess as to how many people have taken part in the demonstration, as people have been moving into the park for several hours now and the march is not over yet.

correction

due respect for the pics, but actually, the militant workers bloc was in the first section of the march and arrived at hyde park about 30 minutes before the second half. it seems that the hold-up was mostly due to a very slow samba outfit made up of barking batteria and rhythms of resistance bands. too many people caught up in the rhythms!

yea

yea the above comment is correct. the black n red bloc was up front and got sectioned away from the rest by the police. a lot of anarchists were left behind with the music i almost was too but ran up ahead and caught up with the bloc just before it got seperated from the rest.

Corrected!

Thanks for the correction - I wasn't with the bloc the entire time, and assumed that since the demo appeared to have been chopped in half by police, and there were lots of anarchists stuck right behind them, that the police were responsible for the slowness.

I've been told by a few different people that it was more the case that it was actually just some slow-moving activist groups that split the march (actually some people were a bit miffed about this). Anyway, looking forward to the next few days. See you in the streets!
