Anarchist Bookfair

The original and still the best!

The very first Anarchist Bookfair was in 1983. It's happened every year since, getting bigger and better each time. This coming one is our 27th Anarchist Bookfair and it is the largest and most important regular gathering of Anarchists in the world. It reflects the full range of Anarchist groups, publishers and activity. Alongside the day length Bookfair, where you can get the latest books, pamphlets, magazines and all the other stuff, there are continual meetings and discussions on all aspects of anarchist activity. These are open to all.

Through the day there is a professionally run creche and hot food. As has happened in previous years there will be anarchist caberet throughout the day and a full programme of videos/DVD's for people to watch.

We've got space for stalls, meetings, film and cabaret. As well as the crèche there will be a space for older kids. Get in touch if you want a stall or to run a meeting - or just turn up on the day with thousands of others.

The venue layout will be slightly different as we have expanded over more of the venue. This is for a number of reasons. Last year the meetings were a bit of a distance from the main hall, so we now have different meeting rooms a bit closer to everything else. Also, having stalls on the stage meant anybody with mobility problems couldn’t get to visit all the stalls – so we have two main halls all on ground level – so they should all be accessible to everybody. And lastly, we had to turn stalls away last year – so with two halls, we hope we can accommodate everybody.

If you are in London you can get posters and leaflets from either Freedom Bookshop, 84B Whitechapel High Street , London , E1 or Housmans Bookshop, 5 Caledonian Road , London , N1. If you want posters - from 1 to 100 - mail@anarchistbookfair.org">email us and we will get them to you.

London Indymedia presentation

Hello! I'm so glad I went to the presentation about this site. It looks really good, and I hope it's successful. The events feature, if used by enough people, looks like a great way of keeping up with all the things going on in London. As was mentioned at the meeting, everything can be very fragmented, and it's difficult to keep up with what everyone's doing. This should help a lot.
